“Do you really believe in Magic?” asked a good friend the other day. And I answered without flinching amd empathatically, “Yes”. “Then make a gold coin materialize, “ she continued. I shook my head letting her know Magic doesn’t work like a straight line or what we see on TV or in children’s stories. My friend slightly disappointed yet sure there isn’t any magic in the world then asked how did Magic work. I told her every wish I had since I was a child has come true even one of them I’d forgotten about. Every human being or life form can create magic. Only it comes in a non-linear spiral -like time form when you least expect it.
Then I related the story of how I had wanted a love relationship like my grandparents; my grandpa being a quiet man with a quirky sense of humor. Over and over again I pleaded with the universe. And now years after they’ve died I am now in a relationship with a man of few words. When I get upset we’re not communicating as much as I would like to, I pinch myself. Remember, you wished for someone like your grandpa.
Yes, there is magic just ‘be careful what you wish for’. It will come true. Lastly for me it’s an awareness of the universal connections of us all. For me, Magic is not seen or heard. Yet, the flitting of a Monarch’s wings, or the aroma of Jasmine flowers, the touch of a lover, the whiff of freshly- baked bread, the harmony of Mozart’s d- Major flute concerto, the first gaze of your newborn, or the twinkling stars on a clear nights’ sky while sitting on a beach by the ocean is pure magic.

About Aurora Raven Dragonfly: Aurora Raven Dragonfly aka Julie Anne Stratton - The basis of my teaching is gleaned from over 34 years of practice based in Germanic, Dianic, Gardnerian and ultimately Reclaiming Witchcraft. There were Goddesses in every culture prior to the major religions and patriarchy. The belief in a Divine Feminine is essential to the healing of Mother Earth. Witches, Shamans and healers are demonized by the major religions to instill fear and take away our agency. The truth is we are all both female, male and all genders divine beings.
I have led and participated in many covens over the years; The Circle of the Rising Phoenix, Sacred Daughters of Her, and Reclaiming the Radiant Wild. I did a green witch intensive for a year with Susan Weed and have taught workshops at witch camps, organized for VWC and was on the World Witch Council as a representative for VWC.
Some of my teachers are Judith Jannberg, Lucia Francia, Angelika Aliti, Susan Weed, Starhawk, Pat Harmatuk and many more.
I have a close relationship with the Goddesses Aphrodite, Diana and Hekate. The Goddess in her many forms though, has been my greatest teacher and mentor. I love working with, people, dance and co-creating magical experiences. I also love gardening, writing and music.
