What if "but" was a code for "yes I see it, BUT I am not ready to feel it, heal it or seal it? Behind every but is an excuse, denial, rejection or fear.
It is easy to see what is behind other people's but. But, can we see what is behind our own? It is always harder to see our own buts.
When but follows a positive statement it has to go in the opposite direction to respond. Otherwise, it would not be a but. It will be an "and." This is true for a negative statement and vice versa.
Your but is on the opposite side of whatever you are facing. Whenever we refuse to face something we give it our but. Are we facing what is in front of us or are we giving it our but?
What is behind your but?
About Rebecca: I grew up in a very religious culture and environment in the south. No I am not knocking it nor am I judging it. It just is. It is a path that has brought me to where I am now. And although I do not practice all of those same beliefs, many of them still live within me. I have not always appreciated myself, my gifts, talents, intellect, internal or external beauty that I possess. The lack of appreciation and acknowledgement has been reflected in how I think the world sees me. But the world can only see what I show it and allow it to see.
Casting all of that behind me, I believe you must bring your whole self to the table if you want to thrive in today’s crazy world; your personality, your sense of humor, and most importantly, your heart. All of these elements brought me to this.
