Our extroverted season knows just how to draw us outward into life.
Longer days. Warm air. Water play. Camping. Traveling. Gathering together.
Summer has its own unique way of inviting us into living.
Let’s notice together what else comes into view as we step more fully into life.
One of the greatest gifts Ayurveda offered me wasn’t answers.
It gave language to what nature—and my own experience—had already been revealing.
Like increases like.
Alongside summer’s joy and playfulness, you may find your patience wearing thin more quickly than usual. Small inconveniences suddenly feel much larger. A comment that normally wouldn’t bother you lingers longer than expected. You may even notice your body responding differently—your joints feel a little more inflamed, your sleep becomes lighter, or acid reflux appears more easily.
Opposite qualities restore balance.
A cool breeze changes the experience of a hot afternoon. A slower breath changes the experience of a busy mind.
As summer continues, you may still reach for a fan, seek the shade, or welcome the relief of a cool evening.
Do those things.
And while you do, you might also carry one simple question with you:
What is this helping me notice?
Sometimes what we’re noticing isn’t summer at all.
It’s the way we’re meeting it.
Finding our way back to greater ease rarely requires anything extravagant. It often begins with surprisingly small experiments.
The feeling of support beneath our feet. The texture of the air against our skin. Even the pause in a difficult exchange. The moment we realize a conversation matters simply because two people remained in it.
Little by little…
Places we once rushed past begin to feel more welcoming.
Little by little…
Our way of participating in life begins to change.
The only thing that changes is our relationship with those moments.
So…let’s make this practical.
Begin by noticing what this season is helping you notice.
Are you finding your patience wearing thin more quickly? Feeling more reactive? More intense?
What opposite quality might support me right now?
If you’ve been constantly on the go, create a few moments of stillness. If you’ve been feeling overheated, explore something cooling. If your attention has been scattered, stay with one thing a little longer.
Then observe what happens.
As your interest in simply meeting your experience grows, the impulse to fix it often begins to soften.
Let your own experience be your teacher.
What have you begun receiving that you once would have rushed past?
I’d love to hear what you discover.
